Congratulations to our seniors on a successful Match Day. Match Day is held annually to announce the results of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), which pairs graduating medical students with residency programs throughout the country. We are now pleased to share the results of the match. At UTMB, 56 percent of our students are remaining in Texas-based residency programs; 22 percent will be in UTMB programs in Galveston and Austin, and almost 44 percent are entering primary care residencies. Congratulations to all of our medical students.
I want to thank all of our faculty and staff who have taught and supported our students during their four years of medical school, and who helped them reach this milestone in their journey to becoming physicians.
