MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN OF MEDICINE
August 3, 2007
It is hard to believe August is here already, but it is, and that means the White Coat Ceremony and the welcoming of our first year students (and their parents) is just a few weeks away. We look forward to welcoming our largest class ever, while we celebrate the incredible USMLE Step 1 scores for the Class of 2009. With 188 scores reported, our students’ passing rate was 100%, and 76.6% of the class thus far scored 90 (217) or above.
Congratulations to the students and the faculty for all of their hard work and for this significant accomplishment.
In an effort to enhance our employees’ ability to use our clinical services, we have launched a pilot program with several departments on campus through the Employee Care Center. The initial phase of the pilot program includes a dedicated phone number for employees to use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our goal is to work out any bugs in the program, and launch the number for all employees on September 1.
You can read the August edition of the SOM e-Newsletter
here, and I look forward to seeing you at the Faculty of Medicine meeting Tuesday, August 7, at 5:15 PM at Levin Hall North.
