You will find
posted at the following website,
http://www2.utmb.edu/compliance/,
a copy of the
Conflict of Interest Policy that is now in effect at UTMB. This policy
applies specifically to all faculty and A&P employees, as well as any
faculty agent, staff, student, fellow, trainee, or administrator, who
under the aegis of the institution conducts research involving human
subjects. All members of the Faculty of Medicine, in particular, are
urged to read and be familiar with this policy. Further information will
be forthcoming shortly from the University’s Conflict of Interest Officer,
Dr. Adrian Perachio, on the implementation of the active annual reporting
process that will be required of the individuals covered by this policy.
In addition, as
you may recall, all University employees (faculty and staff) are required,
by state statute, to complete annual compliance training in a variety of
areas dependent on the responsibilities associated with the employee's
duties at UTMB. The website link that is indexed above also provides very
useful information regarding compliance requirements at UTMB and an online
mechanism to complete individual annual compliance training. Please visit
the site on a periodic basis so that you remain currently informed
regarding compliance requirements that may affect either you or other
employees you may be responsible for. In addition, please remember that
you and those who report to you must keep personal compliance training
current.
